 Objective:


To enhance reading comprehension in English and expand the vocabulary of tenth and eleventh-grade students at Simón Bolívar School, preparing them for the ICFES exam through an interactive and collaborative activity.




Activity Description:

The "Unlocking English Comprehension" activity involves the reading, analysis, and collective translation of an English text. Students will identify and learn new words, thus developing their comprehension and translation skills.



Methodology:

1. Introduction (10 minutes):
   - Explanation of the activity's purpose and its relevance to the ICFES exam.
   - Brief talk on the importance of English and vocabulary acquisition.

2. Text Reading (15 minutes):
   - Distribution of an English text appropriate for the students' level.
   - Individual and silent reading of the text by the students.

3. Identification of Unknown Words (20 minutes):
   - Students underline words they don't know.
   - Brainstorming session where students share unknown words, which are then written on the board.

4. Analysis and Translation (30 minutes):
   - Group discussion on possible meanings of unknown words using context, dictionaries, and teacher guidance.
   - Collective translation of the text, sentence by sentence, ensuring all students understand the content.

5. Reflection and Evaluation (15 minutes):
   - Discussion on what was learned and how the technique can help in the ICFES exam.
   - Student feedback on the activity and suggestions for future improvements.




 Necessary Resources:

- Printed English text for each student.
- Markers and board to write unknown words.
- Bilingual dictionaries (English-Spanish).
